How WagerVerdict makes money

Short version: operators pay us commission when a reader opens an account through one of our links. It costs you nothing, it funds the testing, and it does not buy a score or a position. The long version is below, including the parts most affiliate sites leave out.

The arrangement

Most outbound links to gambling operators on this site are affiliate links. If you click one, register and deposit, the operator pays us - usually a share of their revenue from your account, sometimes a one-off fee per depositing player. You pay nothing extra, and your terms, bonus and account are identical to those of someone who arrived directly.

What commission does not buy

  • Position. Ordering in every table and ranking comes from the score produced by our published methodology. Commission rate is not an input at any stage.
  • Scores. Scores are recorded against the rubric before review copy is written.
  • Removal of criticism. Operators contact us about negative findings. Findings stay unless they are factually wrong, in which case we correct them and say so.
  • Pre-publication review. No operator sees a review before it is published.
  • Exclusion of rivals. We have never accepted a payment to leave a competitor off a list.

The awkward parts

Not every good operator has an affiliate programme

Some operators pay nothing, and a few of them are genuinely good. Where one of those belongs in a ranking, it is listed in its scored position with a plain link and no commission to us. If you see an entry without a tracked link, that is why.

Commission rates do vary between operators

They do, sometimes by a lot. We are aware of the incentive that creates. The published-weights method exists precisely so that the incentive is visible and checkable rather than something you have to take on trust.

We are not a neutral party

We are a commercial publisher in the gambling affiliate business. Read us as an informed and documented opinion, not as a regulator or a consumer body. Where a decision matters to you, check the operator terms and licence yourself - our licensing guide shows how.

Advertising and sponsored content

We do not publish sponsored posts, paid reviews, paid placements or "featured operator" slots, and we do not sell display advertising to gambling operators. If that ever changes, it will be labelled clearly on the page it appears on and noted here.

Regulatory position

Affiliate marketing of gambling is regulated in many jurisdictions and the rules differ. We aim to follow the stricter reading: clear 18+ labelling, no targeting of minors or vulnerable people, no claims that gambling is a source of income, and prominent responsible gambling messaging on every page.

If you think something on this site falls short of that, tell us through the contact page.

Gambling can be addictive. Only bet money you can afford to lose, set deposit and time limits before you start, and never chase losses. Free confidential help is available from BeGambleAware and GamCare.
